Limcora first opened its doors in 1977 as a small family plumbing business run by twin brothers Howard and Anthony Graham. It’s now been over 40 years since our inception, and in this time, we’ve risen from humble beginnings to become one of the most reputable names in the industry and the first choice for plumbing and drainage needs for businesses and individuals across Sydney and Tasmania. Limcora is now owned and run by Evan Graham and Alex Nelson, who have dedicated themselves to make the company what it is today.
How it all began
Howard and Anthony had been running the business with a small team of about six plumbers and drainers when Howard’s son Evan began his apprenticeship with the company. Ever since he was a kid, Evan had the goal of running a successful business, so it came as no surprise that he would eventually lead the Limcora team.
Evan recalls a time when his mother asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He responded with
“I want to be a businessman. I see the people in the city, they wear the suits they dress up, I see them shuffling paper all the time and writing things on it – I don’t know what they’re writing but I want to be them. I want to be that guy.”
While working as a young apprentice for Limcora, Evan was also chasing a career as a soccer player. Things took a turn when an on-site injury forced him off the field and into recovery for three months. It was at this time that Evan began to rethink his future and saw Limcora as a potential business opportunity. His experience growing up around building sites, his apprenticeship as a plumber, and his childhood dreams of being a businessman were all coming together.
Building the team
In 2005, Howard and Debbie decided to relocate and move to the Mid North Coast. It was at this point, that Anthony sold his half of the company to Evan. Evan immediately began to grow the business and grew the team to 15 within the first 12 months of takeover. In 2009, Evan approached a fellow plumber Alex Nelson, known for his passion and dedication with the idea to merge their two businesses together and Limcora began to transform into the organisation it is today.
Right from the start, both Evan and Alex had the passion and drive to push the company further, with the goal to make it one of the best plumbing companies and one of the most recognisable names in the industry. Their common goal has allowed them to combine their strengths, working together to lead Limcora as it quickly grew into a larger organisation.
Now, Limcora has a team of over 70 staff, including:
- Plumbers (both apprentices and fully qualified tradesmen)
- Specialist contractors
- Plumbing Supervisors
- Drainers
- Gasfitters
- Metal fascia and gutter fillers
- Excavators and bobcat operators
- Solar hot water specialists
- Administration team
Continuing the legacy
Despite the massive growth, Limcora has not forgotten where we came from. We are still very much a proud family business, and Howard and Debbie are still part of the team. We pride ourselves on operating as a family, where all of our employees have shared visions and complete work with integrity and a sense of comradery.
This family atmosphere has helped Limcora maintain ongoing relationships with our clients. Currently, we complete over 1000 jobs a year, and 70% of this work comes from returning clients. It is for this reason that we have become one of the most trusted and reputable organisations in the industry.
